Conclusion

What do these recommendations mean for the future?

Implementing the recommendations presented in this website; distributing reparations, improving facilities, and integrating more technology; will benefit SJS in the long-term. Allocating compensation to families is deserved because, plain and simple, money and therefore educational opportunity was stolen from them. Improving facilities will enhance students' educational experiences and possibly improve their learning outcomes, while investing in tools and technology will also enrich their education and help them build important skills and interest in STEM that will benefit them after they graduate. While it would be nice for the settlement committee and the school to implement these specific recommendations, what is most important is to use these funds to do better. These settlement funds are an opportunity to repair the stunted education students received when their tuition was being stolen and to restore the trust between institution and community that has been broken. It is time to focus on rebuilding St. James School for the students.
